JP Document Services

Justices of the Peace are legally authorised under the Judicature Act No. 02 of 1978 to witness, certify, and attest a wide range of legal documents — all provided free of charge to the public of Sri Lanka.

Affidavits & Statutory Declarations

JPs administer oaths and witness affidavits and statutory declarations required for legal, immigration, and governmental purposes.

How to Get a Document Certified

Find a JP

Use our online directory to locate a registered JP in your district — search by area or name.

Bring Your Documents

Bring the original document and all copies you need certified. Bring your National ID for identity verification.

JP Verifies & Certifies

The JP examines the original, then signs and stamps the copies confirming they are true reproductions.

Free of Charge

JP services are provided free to the public. No fee is required or permitted to be charged by a JP.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be an officially appointed Justice of the Peace in Sri Lanka
  • Appointment must be current and active under the Judicature Act No. 02 of 1978
  • Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka in good standing
  • Must have taken oaths before a High Court or District Court Judge
  • Must submit a completed CJPSL membership application form

How to Apply

  • 1 Complete the online Google Form or download the print application
  • 2 Submit your JP appointment letter and NIC copy
  • 3 CJPSL verifies your credentials with the Ministry of Justice
  • 4 Receive your membership ID and digital certificate by email
  • 5 Renew annually to maintain active member status

Community Mediation

Neutral mediation services for community disputes, neighbourhood conflicts, family matters, and civil disagreements — led by trained CJPSL JPs at no charge.

Human Rights Advocacy

CJPSL actively promotes and defends human rights across all provinces of Sri Lanka, working with civil society and international organisations to address abuses.

Youth Empowerment

Programs designed to empower Sri Lankan youth with civic knowledge, leadership skills, and awareness of their constitutional rights and responsibilities.

Women & Vulnerable Groups

Dedicated outreach to women, elderly citizens, and vulnerable groups who may face barriers in accessing justice — ensuring no one is left behind.
